Fossickers Hut is situated near small, historic, gold-mining town, Canvastown, on the main route to Nelson from either Picton or Blenhiem. It's a convenient one hour from Nelson, and 40 minutes from Blenheim. Staying at Fossickers Hut is like taking a step back in time. Canvastown was once a popular goldmining town, and remnants of the gold workings surrounding the hut, are reminiscent of a time when the valley was populated by 2000 gold prospectors. The pioneer-style of Fossickers Hut was designed by artistic owners, Craig and Jodie, as a nod to these early settlers.
